Fun with the Sawyers

We have been having fun with our Sawyer cousins over the past few weeks.  First all three Sawyer cousins were in town for the Marine Corp Marathon.  So we had a spaghetti dinner with them the night before and then went to watch Joe run in the marathon and Anna Beth and John run in the 10K!

Spaghetti dinner fun!
Then over Veterans Day weekend, we joined Joseph at a parade in Manassas!
Apparently not a fan of hats anymore.

Here comes the parade!

Big trucks!!

We got an Air Force flag to represent Daddy!

He really wanted to just play underneath the big trucks.  I was not such a big fan of that!

And he thought the canon was really cool.
And yes, that is him walking all on his own!

'Mommy, I want one of these for Christmas.'

So much fun!

'Wow!' Sitting on the long range canon.
Needless to say, Ollie had a wonderful time at the parade.  It was just right for him, not too long and some cool things to climb on afterwards!
And I was glad to hopefully start a tradition of attending Veterans Day events with Ollie so that as he grows older they can become more of a learning experience, so he may be able to grasp the meaning of what and who went before us to truly make our country and our people free.

It's Halloween!!

It's Halloween! It's Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can't be seen
On any other night:

Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
Witches on their magic brooms.

In masks and gowns
we haunt the street
And knock on doors
for trick or treat!

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!

Sort-of Surprise Visit!

We were very lucky to have Ryan come home this month for a TDY.  It was not a surprise in the sense that we had no idea and then got a knock on our door to discover Ryan standing there, but it was a surprise in that we weren't expecting to see him until his R and R.  In true military fashion this TDY was not firm until a week before it was suppose to happen and even then Ryan's flight wasn't booked until the day he was flying out.  But lucky for us, it all worked out and we got to spend 9 fabulous days with him!

He was authorized a 4 day pass to tack on to a 5 day course.  So he came home to VA for the 4 days.  We were able to have dinner with good friends, visit with friends who just had a baby, go to a Fall Festival, have lunch with my cousin Adam, carve a pumpkin, and even have a date night in those 4 days.

Here are some pictures from the VA time:
He was so happy to see his daddy!
There wasn't any hesitation.

Hayride fun!

Hands up high!  Really high!

Ollie was not a fan of the slides, but mom and dad were!

Maybe he'll like this one???
Nope.

Pumpkins!!

He loves these big orange things!

The Weeds new baby!

So glad we got the chance to meet her while Ryan was home!

Cousin Adam!

Fit some tv watching in.

Pumpkin.
Pumpkin insides!

Finished product.
And then we were off to Ohio for Ryan's course.  Conveniently Ryan's parents live very close to Wright Patt, so we stayed with them and got to have fun with Grandma and Grandpa too! Grandma cooked us some delicious dinners, Grandma and Grandpa spoiled Ollie, and we got to visit with some more friends!

Custard with Grandma!

Putting together the 5 in 1 sports extravaganza toy!

We met up with the Pitsticks for lunch!

There were pumpkins there, so of course we had to go check them out!

Dinner with the Pochets!

Drew was already in bed, but here are the other 3 in jammies!

Grandma took us to the children's museum!
Ollie loved it!

Looking at the windmill.

Crawling through tunnels!

Being a turtle!

Then it was time to say goodbye, again.

Can't wait to see Daddy again!
Just 5 more months till R and R!

Re-Cap of October! (sort of)

October has been another fly by month!  With Oliver's birthday wrapping up the end of September, I was thinking October might have been  great month to get back into a good routine and organize for the upcoming holidays....that didn't happen.

But for very good reason!! Daddy came home! This re-cap is not going to include daddy's visit, that deserves it's own post.  So this one is literally going to just give you a glimpse of everything else that happened in October (minus Halloween...obviously!).

Nate, me, Tiffany, April and Brian headed to the VT Game!

Love these ladies!
Ollie and Auntie April

The Lewtons and The Wiggins!  They joined us for the football weekend,
and took care of my babies while we were at the game.

Fall fun with our friends!
Gabby, Delaney, Ollie and Avery!

Gabby and Ollie in the pumpkins.

On a hayride!

Our neighbor and friend, Andrea, took some pictures of me and my babies!

We are going to miss the East Coast fall!

Look at these two!
Love them!
